Oregon Coast via Newport

...so the troops needed to get out of dodge for the weekend: destination Newport, OR ~2 1/2 hours SW of Portland. Set out Saturday morning to catch Henry's morning nap in the car (he did actually sleep 1 1/2 hours). Arriving in town, we of course went straight the Rogue Brewery in South Beach, OR across the bay from Newport for lunch and a brewery tour. Then we took advantage of some partially sunny weather and hit the beach so Henry could get his mineral intake for 2009. We stayed at a nice hotel (Elizabeth Inn) with an ocean view... and of course a pool. Henry got his first taste (not literally) of chlorinated water and had quite a good time despite the chilly temps. Sunday, more touring of the bay front piers & boat docks, a little more beach time and back to Portland by dinner... whew. What a great Dad's day weekend.
